Niagara Falls is undoubtedly the most famous waterfall on the planet. It consists of 3 Falls: the American Falls and Bridal Veil Falls (aka Luna Falls,) both in the US, and Horseshoe Falls in Canada. The Niagara River, above the falls, has a discharge of about 212,000 cubic feet per second, but the hydroelectric facility at the falls draws off more than half the volume of the river, leaving the average flow of the falls at around 85,000 cubic feet per second. In our opinions, this is a very impressive waterfall, but due to it's short height (in the grand scheme of things) and it's location in a developed location, we can't, in good conscience, call this one of the best in North America.
